San Diego!

San Diego is renowned for safari parks, beautiful beaches and family attractions but the “City in motion” is also a motion picture city that delivers a thriving industry in a perfect climate for shooting.

Whether you are shooting a small scene in or near san diego or a full film here at Andrus Lighting we are ready to help with your next project with our vast film rental equipment, grip trucks, and crew.

Why Trust Andrus Lighting?

When good customers ask the right questions we always like to start with the right answers. So when you wonder why people should trust Andrus Lighting as a starting point for San Diego film rental we always go to the most obvious statement - We’ve got experience. Since the mid 90’s Andrus Lighting and Grip has built its name on references from big and small names such as Google, CBS, NBC, ABC Sports, ESPN, HBO, PBS, BBC and so many more.

The industry in this city is at its core based on trust, and if we weren’t to provide that people would know about it. So if you’re not sure, ask around! We know that the relationships we have built over the years more than cover our back because they know a good thing when they see it.

What do we offer?

Our services have grown over the years but always kept within the realms of quality control. Grip trucks are an essential part of our services and we split them into three key bundles - The 5 Ton truck, 3 Ton truck, and 1-2 Ton truck packages. The inventory for each package offers an array of helpful lighting and rigging equipment if you want a full rundown on our trucks read more here.

Grip trucks are a gaffer's essential and a Director of Photography’s best friend so don’t overlook the importance of this necessity because of the simplicity of the items. And let’s not forget an extra vehicle always comes in handy for any production, particularly when talking about such a drive centric city as San Diego. The real deal when examining the importance of Andrus comes into play with our Lighting inventory. We are the gold standard when it comes to the primary and fundamental items needed to light up any film set. If it’s LED Tube Lighting, LiteMat, Kinos, HMI, or Tungsten lighting we fulfill your every need. But with a list so extensive it’s better to show rather than tell you, see our full list here.

Get the Gear Needed

On top of the obvious we also supply Grip Gear, Sliders, and Camera Dollies which top to bottom won’t let you down for all of your grip needs.

To get the gear in action we also offer suggestions to professional crew who are not only familiar with the equipment but also incredibly knowledgeable and highly skilled in their field. We’re aware that the people make the place so it’s important to note that we only recommend some of the best personalities to match their professionalism. The experience ranges from DP’s, to Lighting Directors, Gaffers, Electricians, Key Grips, Grips, Production Assistants and plenty more.

You’d be surprised that the most common oversight in the electrical department on big projects is a generator. Power is everything, and you won’t take more than two steps onto a set without a gaffer or grip asking you where the power outlets are located. But if it’s an exterior shoot or there’s any issues with the power available a generator is, without doubt, one of the most useful tools we can provide from our arsenal. Our generators are a Honda EU line ranging from 2,000 to 7000 watts. These are your safety blanket and back up to any power outage or distance control so don’t refuse to at least think about the problems these can solve along the way.

With lighting and power comes electric distribution and we can supply you with all of the extension leads, splitters, power cables or stingers. Quite possibly the most impressive lighting utility we offer is Andrus Studios which is located in the heart of Mission Hills San Diego just 3 miles away from the airport. The 2000 square foot facility is no joke when it brings the much needed space to a production.

To add to this is our most recent service in studio installations. Building sets, studios or spaces is common practice because we’ve done it so often.
